GHK-Cu pairs the tripeptide glycyl-histidyl-lysine with a copper(II) ion, which it binds with high affinity. The complex occurs naturally in human plasma and gives the lyophilized powder its characteristic blue colour.

Research interest centres on its effects in extracellular matrix biology: collagen and glycosaminoglycan synthesis, antioxidant enzyme expression, and the regulation of genes associated with matrix turnover. It is also used as a defined copper source in trace-metal signalling experiments.

Supplied as a sealed vial for laboratory use. This material is offered strictly for in vitro research and is not for human or veterinary consumption, diagnostic, or therapeutic use.
