These notes are written for laboratory personnel handling research compounds. They describe standard laboratory practice for in vitro work and are not instructions for use in humans or animals.
Reconstitution
Peptides ship as a lyophilised powder under vacuum. Before opening, allow the vial to reach room temperature — introducing solvent into a cold vial draws moisture into the powder and shortens its usable life.
- Wipe the stopper with 70% isopropyl alcohol and let it dry.
- Draw the intended volume of bacteriostatic or sterile water into a syringe.
- Direct the stream down the inside wall of the vial rather than onto the powder. A jet fired straight into lyophilised peptide can shear the chain.
- Swirl gently until dissolved. Do not shake or vortex.
- Label the vial with the compound, concentration and date of reconstitution.
Concentration
Concentration is simply the milligrams in the vial divided by the millilitres of solvent added. A 10 mg vial reconstituted with 2 mL yields 5 mg/mL. Recording the ratio on the vial at the moment of reconstitution avoids the most common source of error in downstream work.
Storage

Reading a certificate of analysis
Every lot we sell has a published report. Three numbers matter most:
- Purity by HPLC — the share of total peak area attributable to the target peptide. Anything below the figure on the product page would not have been released.
- Identity by mass spectrometry — the observed molecular weight against theoretical. This is the check that catches a substituted compound, and it is the one a purity number alone cannot give you.
- Fill weight — measured contents against the label claim. Under-filling is the quiet failure mode in this industry; we publish the measurement either way.

Disposal
Dispose of unused material and sharps according to your institution’s chemical waste procedure and local regulation. Do not pour reconstituted peptide down a drain.
