Cagrilintide is a synthetic analog of amylin, the peptide hormone co-secreted with insulin by pancreatic beta cells. Structural modification extends its half-life considerably relative to native amylin, which is what makes it practical as a laboratory reference compound.
It is studied in amylin and calcitonin receptor pharmacology, gastric emptying models, glucagon regulation, and increasingly in combination work alongside GLP-1 receptor agonists.
