DSIP is a nine-residue peptide originally recovered from rabbit brain during work on sleep-associated factors. It remains one of the few peptides studied specifically in relation to sleep architecture.
Research applications include slow-wave EEG pattern analysis, stress hormone modulation, and nociceptive signalling. It also appears in circadian and HPA-axis models where corticotropin regulation is the variable under examination.
