5-Amino-1MQ (5-amino-1-methylquinolinium iodide) is a small molecule rather than a peptide. It acts as an inhibitor of nicotinamide N-methyltransferase (NNMT), the enzyme that methylates nicotinamide and thereby diverts it away from NAD+ salvage.
Because of that relationship it is often paired with NAD+ work: researchers use it to probe NNMT activity, nicotinamide flux, and adipocyte metabolic signalling in cell-based systems.
